What does renew mean biblically?
Being renewed biblically is the act of changing, amending, consecrating, and restoring and making fresh something. For most of us, renewal looks like turning from sin, switching our focus back to God rather than ruminating on our problems, or even taking time to sit at his feet. Here are some of the other definitions:
- Refresh
- Give a new appearance
- Rebuild
- Repair
- Become firm about, establish
Doesn’t those definitions make your insides leap? Jesus reminds us multiple times in the Word of how we can renew and walk in the faith that comes from believing and trusting Him only. We weren’t the only ones needing faith renewal; Christ reminded so many people in the bible to prioritize their faith in God, including the disciples.
Who needs to renew their faith?
I believe everyone who is a believer and non-believers should renew their faith. Whether it is every hour, every day, every years, your faith in God should be a priority. For unbelievers, hearing and accepting God’s truth is the priority.
Renewal of faith is for those who have taken their focus off of God and placed it on circumstances, money, people, and even their own abilities. You will know if you need to renew your faith if you are no longer experiencing life in peace, spending time in fear, worry, and hopelessness.
You will know if you need to renew your faith. It requires self-reflection, yielding to the holy spirit, and being honest with yourself to pivot your faith.
How do you renew your faith in God?
You renew your faith in God with these 5 easy steps that I have discovered through my journey and further understanding of the 5 Elements Of Faith provided by my Bishop Keith Butler of Word Of Faith Ministries. The steps are as follows:
- Hearing (Reading) the Word
- Receiving the truth
- Believing in your heart
- Speaking in a way that brings life
- Acting from a place of trust that it all will come to pass
Faith is amazing to have. When we can allow ourselves to have a faith, even as small as a mustard seed, then we are in position to grow into a greater faith by working through the steps mentioned above.
I highly recommend getting the book if you want a deeper but digestible understanding of faith. Our faith is really the driving force to all that we do and believe for. Without faith, we cannot see a life of hope, love, and abundance.
Will I know if I have been renewed?
Yes, you will be able tell when you’ve been renewed. However, don’t think that when you renew your faith, that you wouldn’t have to ever do it again. Thinking that is far from the truth.
We are fighting against flesh and evil spirits that don’t want you to have faith in God. Renewing your faith is a daily practice for all of us, including experienced leaders.
So why yes, you will feel and experience renewal when you walk through the steps; do not get comfortable in your level of faith because there is always another level to reach because new responsibilities and challenges will come your way with mastery of anything.

As someone who has had her faith tested often, I know God is challenging us all to renew our faith. Sometimes the nudges are small, and other times I feel a mighty push to get back on track.
The bible verses shared here are to be our resource for when our faith is tested so we can pass with flying colors. We all have levels to this journey of our lives that will require us to renew our faith.

Faith Defined.

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together.
