7 Bible Verses For When You’re In A Season Of Change

Spread the love

Is it just me, or are we in a crazy time of rapid changes? One after another, I would say. I don’t know about you, but I am definitely in a season of change, many to be exact. At times, I don’t know what to feel but what I do know is that God will see me through it. Let me explain it some more.

I have often coin myself a person in constant transition. Always starting a new chapter, a new focus, you would think my life was an encyclopedia series. No, I’m exaggerating a little, but it feels that way sometimes.

I know that I am a person with many desires, goals, and decisions that require a lot of shifting. Some of my own will, but a majority in God’s Will. Changes that I’ve experienced thus far have been all for the better, even when they are good times or unpleasant times.

Seasons Of Change

For some, change can come sporadically, happening every seven years, like the cycle of debt cancellation that I read about in the bible. I am praying that it applies to me as well as I’m reaching my 7th year. Biden has been playing games.

But for others, change is a constant. But no matter how you experience change, know that change is inevitable. This means, even if you don’t change yourself, life will do it for you.

To be honest, I would instead make changes voluntarily than forcefully. But we don’t always have that choice or control transition in our lives.

Your Relationship With Change

Your relationship with change is significant because it will determine how well the experience will go. When you fight against transition, it can be painful and unpleasant. But if you try to be present in the process, you may have some discomfort, but it won’t be as painful.

Handling change starts in early childhood because we go through many life changes and transitions as we grow from childhood to adulthood.  Our upbringing and family culture determine how we process change. I can remember the time we had to move from our childhood home to my grandmother’s house. It took me a while to adjust to the culture of individuals in that neighborhood, different from my early upbringing.

So, taking the time to reflect on past transitions and changes in your life and remember how you responded. Have you grown in your response to change? Do you still exhibit unhealthy reactions? List your responses, so you can assess the patterns and make changes. See what I did there.

What If I Don’t Handle Change Well?

Don’t feel bad if you don’t handle change well. I still have challenges when seasons of change arrive. One of the most significant changes in my life was becoming pregnant and automatically knowing that I would be a single mom. From a girl chasing her goals of secondary degrees, planning to travel, and live my life with no kids doing whatever I wanted, God indeed sat my butt down.

You might say, “Oh, Chyna! I did not handle becoming a single mom well, the divorce, or getting dumped again after another relationship. It took so much out of me emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.”

You’re right. Those circumstances are challenging to handle. But the real question to ask is when you were struggling with the change, were you still holding on to how things were? Were you making an idol of the luxury of the past? Is the future requiring more of you?

These questions are ones to reflect on because nine times out of 10, you answered ‘Yes’ to one of those questions. This means that sometimes we make our season of change harder than it has to be. Sorry, not sorry.

But enough of that, I will allow God’s Word to speak to you in your season of change.

“But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”

Numbers 13:30-33 NLT

“When Moses had finished giving these instructions to all the people of Israel, he said, “I am now 120 years old, and I am no longer able to lead you….So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Deuteronomy 31:1-6 NLT (read full text)

“So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord!”

Psalm 31:24 NLT

All 7 verses I found in a study I did in my season of change, which is right now. It was too good I had to share it. But from the verses, I want to leave you with key points to remember when experiencing a change of any kind in your life.

  • God gives us the strength and courage to handle change, so there is no need to try to fight it or avoid it.
  • Remember, God does not change because life changes. He will continue to be with us and see us through.
  • Change can be a lot and very overwhelming. Rest in God’s peace anyway. No need to get ourselves worked up.
  • Be aware of how we perceive the change. Focus on believing in God’s promises, not in fear, weakness, and possible failures.
  • Change often does not affect the end goal; it brings us closer to it, even if it doesn’t look like we thought.
  • We can never go wrong with putting our hope in God! Trust Him with our life. (Jeremiah 29:11)
