4 Tips For Walking In Victory For Single Moms

Spread the love

You have everything you need. You are victorious. The Lord triumphs in victory. You are more than a conqueror. Things we hear all the time in church as single moms but still leave feeling defeated and lacking. However, that stops here! Today, you will read truth and wisdom on walking in victory and what that looks like for you as a single mom.

“ No despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” Romans 8:37 NLT

Before entering our single mom season, we were and always will be women, daughters, and children of God. Before the hardship and challenges, we have always been here to fellowship with God and inherit the riches of His kingdom, and victory is one of them.

When we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we also received the victory only found in Him. A victory that overcomes the world and everything in it, including sin.

“ But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT

Yet, for some reason, when we leave the repentance service, deliverance service, or even Sunday service, as soon as we walk out of the four walls, we have instant spiritual amnesia, and we become defeated by the pressures and demands of life.

However, God does not want us to live like that. Hear me, single moms! God does not want us to hear the Word, gain the truth of who we are, and live as if we did not hear anything at all.

God wants us to be walking in victory every day and confident that in Christ Jesus there is protection and triumph on the other side of any scheme that the enemy throws our way.

What does walking in victory mean?

Walking in victory is what it sounds like. It is stepping in authority, experiencing life with confidence that God will see it through, not to harm us but to prosper and give us a future.

If you are a technical person, here are a few definitions:

Walking– moving on legs, conducting ones self in a slow pace. Moving in a direction, guiding, and escorting.

In– possessing, by and through

Victory– conquest, winning battle, advantage and superiority over enemies or opponents.

According to biblical definition and meaning, walking in victory is moving in a direction where you possess and get through challenges superior and prevailing over both natural and spiritual resistance.

If that doesn’t change your perspective, I don’t know what will. It is our right as daughters of God, followers of Christ, to walk and operate in this level of victory over anything this world throws at us.

What does the bible say about walking in victory?

Never thought you would ask.

The Bible has many scriptures to remind us of our victory in Christ and how we must live as though we already have victory. Here are 10 bible verses on victory:

  • “For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭149‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭62‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.” Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬ ‭NLT
  • ‬‬“For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭20‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭35‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • ““The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven!”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
  • “But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!”” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When it comes to victory, there is a sense of certainty and assurance that help us with the confidence to walk in this life, knowing all we have to worry about is remaining in Christ, yielding to the Holy Spirit, and sharing our faith.

When we do these things, everything else tends to fall into place. I know this for a fact to be true for my life and yours.

How do we walk in God’s victory?

To truly walk in God’s victory, you must know who God is and the battle He has won for us. Once we truly understand that, we can genuinely begin walking in victory and having the boldness and confidence to spread the good news to everyone and everywhere we are called.

“But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Walking in God’s victory includes:

  • Accepting the greatest victory of all time: Jesus defeating death through the cross.
  • Choosing to believe God’s truth over our own and the world’s lies.
  • Dying to our sinful nature, our flesh and desires daily.
  • Understanding our purpose and pursuing what God has called us to.
  • Knowing our testimony and being able to share how God changed our lives with others.

What does walking in victory look like for single moms?

Walking in victory is the same for everyone. However, single moms experience unique challenges slightly different from married moms and single women. Here is what walking in victory looks like:

Understanding God loves single moms too.

Single mom, you are loved. You are chosen and cherished. God desires to make you holy and set you apart. No matter how others may feel about the season you are in, God is the only opinion that matters.

God does not look down on you because of your situation. God wants you to repent regarding ways of life that do not align with Him, but he is more concerned about seeing you grow and deepening your relationship with Him.

Once clear, you will walk in a victory unique to your single mom’s journey.

Living Made New: Old things passed away and new things have come.

Once you understand how much God loves you and cares for you, you will be in a position to take the boldest step of all, giving your life to Christ. Once in Christ, you will leave your old life, way of thinking, and behaviors behind to be all that God has made you to be.

When someone or something brings up your past, you will be in a healthier place to remember that you are redeemed and that your old ways are not in charge anymore. Your new nature in Christ is what you walk in, and learning about yourself in the Word helps you to begin walking in victory through wisdom and knowledge.

Refusing to be identified or defined by a relationship or parenting status.

This one is tough for so many single moms because we often mix up our season of single motherhood as our identity. News flash: it is not! God had a plan for us long ago, and being a single mom is just a bump in the road toward where God wants us.

For this reason, we can’t fall into the enemy’s trap of thinking what the world thinks about us because of our circumstances; we are more than a season and chapter in our lives. Walking in the victory of Christ gives us the confidence to continue to be single and parent our children with minimal help, even though society has tried to tell us our families will never amount to anything.

God has the final say!

Speaking boldly about your faith

This one is big because many single moms who have been in the things of God for a long time continue to shy away and play small due to current circumstances. However, walking in victory with God allows you not to be dimmed by your shortcomings nor be put to shame for decisions made by yourself or others.

When you walk in true victory, it’s so hard to keep it to yourself. You would want to shout out from the mountaintop how good God has been and how Jesus can transform the lives of others you know. Being a single mom does not disqualify you from being an ambassador for Christ; it makes you more equipped for the position.

Rest in the fact that God called many people who were outcasted, forgotten and pushed aside due to their past or current situations. They were the closest individuals to Jesus. So shout, “I don’t care if the world doesn’t choose me; God did! That’s the greatest victory for me.”

All in all,

“May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the Lord answer all your prayers.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

May God answer your prayers. Those challenges, those habits, and that toxic cycle of feeling defeated stops now. May we rejoice when you finally begin walking in victory and all the enemies’ attacks fail.

As a fellow single mom, I know the fiery darts that try to destroy us in our season, but God’s whole armor protects us and gives us the confidence and strength to fight another day. Yet, remember you are on the side of the undefeated champion, Jesus Christ. Whom shall you fear?

I pray this blog post ignites a fire in you to go deeper with God and understand how victorious you already are, single mom. Trouble does not always last; joy comes in the morning. But in between times, shod your feet with the gospel of peace and walk in victory, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
