Do you have a love life? What is love life exactly? Is my love life non-existent, or is it thriving? No matter what your answer to these questions may be, I still encourage you to pray over your love life this year.

What is a love life?

Your love life is the area of your life that has concerns for your relationship with lovers/romantic partners. Within this part of your life, your current dating status to whether you are already in a committed relationship preparing for marriage is of concern. Whether on the left or right of the spectrum, know that you are creating space for ‘eros love’ in your life. 

What do I need in my love life?

I would like to think that I am an expert in this area but I am not. I have researched, trialed, and errored, as well as gained wisdom by seeking God and His word on what a healthy love life needs.

Your love life needs to have:

• Love- a respect, admiration, and compassion for another and yourself.
• Intimacy- a safe space for authenticity, vunerability, nakedness wrapped in empathy and kindness.
• Romance- opportunities of real affection, appreciation, and adoration for your partner and yourself through actions/behaviors.
• Sex- a physical intimacy and deep commitment to each other, becoming one, that only should be found in the protection and safety of a godly marriage. (I know people have mixed feelings about this one, but this here is a faith-based blog; so it’s God’s way or the highway.)

I would as add to the list yoke equality and purpose. What I mean by yoke equality and purpose is that in a love life, there has to be a healthy awareness of self.

You must understand who you are in Christ, what you bring to the table, and how you will need to date on your level and choose partners who are similar to you in values. In addition, spending time with prospects with a life purpose that aligns with the direction you want to go in life.

Side note:

Sometimes we spend too much time entertaining men too long that don’t align with us, with God, and that fail to bring any of the above necessities to the table in a healthy way.

If you struggle in this area as I did, then I would advise you to ask God to give you discernment in identifying maligned men in your life.

How do I pray for my love life?

Praying for your love life isn’t hard but it does take intentionality. Remember, prayer is a conversation with your heavenly father about the things that matter most to Him and to you.

Often times,  we feel that God doesn’t care but if it matters to you, it matters to Him. Here are some simple steps to begin to pray over your love life.

1. Seek God about what he desires for your romantic love life.
2. Explore what you desire and need in your romantic relationship. (May be outlined in scriptutre or not.)
3. Find scriptures to stand on to give you confidence and courageous behind what you are praying for.
4. Talk to God about it all. (The good, bad, ugly, entitled, and outlandish.)
5. Thank Him in advance and hearing your petitions.
6. Continue to pray until fulfilled. (Make sure you ask God about what He needs from you as you wait.)

These are the basics when it comes to seeking God for anything in life. However, there is also room for prayer in regards to healing from your past experiences, forgiving yourself and creating a new outlook on your love life.

I will keep this one short and sweet. We often go to God as he is a genie in a bottle and feel as though we have to rub him the right way to get what we want. That’s not how God or prayer works. 

Start by changing your language from ask God to give me what I want and desire to seeking God for what he wants and desires for you in a life partner. Walk with Him daily so He can reveal His mysteries and vision when it comes to your love life. Nurture your relationship with God to show yourself committed to a long-term healthy relationship and marriage with one of His sons.

Pray over your love life by praying over your past experiences regarding romantic love.

As single moms and single women, we know that we’ve made poor choices when it came to romantic relationships in the past. Whether we did not have the guidance we needed or we were too stubborn to listen wise counsel, know that Christ redeemed us when we accepted him and can do the same for your love life.

Pray over your love life and for the healing that is necessary to bring freedom and restoration to this part of your life.

Heavenly Father,

I thank you for the love that has come my way in the past. It may have not been the right love that you wanted for me but it don’t me the lessons I needed to know to truly appreciate the love you have for me in the future.

I pray God that you help me break any soul ties, strongholds, and feelings of guilt behind the choices I made in the past. God I know you are redeeming my love life and I submit my future decisions to you so you can get the glory in my love life.

Pray over your love life by praying for the lack of romantic love you’re experiencing.

Many of you, like me, has had a desert season when it comes to your love life. I know women who have never experienced dating before or ever being approached by a man.

But don’t fret, God is in the business of turning things around, bringing life and living water to to the most deserted of love lifes. Pray over your love life so that you can begin to attract eros love in your life.

Father,

I thank you for keep me and hiding me all these years. I am grateful for your patience and kindness toward me when I was too afraid to do anything about my love life. Jesus, help me to see that my lack of prospects, dating, and marriage does not mean I lack in life.

Remind me that I have everything I need in you because I have your daughter, chosen and adopted into your family, and given an inheritance that surpasses any benefit of a romantic relationship. However, Holy Spirit, guide me, teach me, and sustain me as I embark on this endeavor to find the eros love you have for me.

Pray over your love life and the newness of it.

This prayer is for the women and single moms who have found someone that they are getting to know. A cry for the women that are seeing a possible future with a man who has exhibited the necessary values, traits, and embodiment of the needs described above. 

Sometimes the newness of a relationship can cause anxiety in our hearts and cause us to overthink the realness of all that is transpiring.  The fear inside of us impacts all God desires to do in our love life if only we trust in Him, His timing, and guidance.

Use this prayer to pray over your love life and remove the anxiety and fear that arises.

Heavenly Father,

I thank you for walking along side me in my new relationship. I know that you are an all-knowing God, omnipresent and aware of all the crazy thoughts in my head regarding my new love. I try to remind myself that you know my thoughts from afar off so help me measure up those thoughts to your Word and discard if they do not align.

Your word reminds me that I can cast all my anxieties on you and that you will give me rest, comfort and peace in this season. Help me to keep the eyes of my heart open so that I use sound judgment and hear you clearly when you are directing my steps and decisions in my new relationship.

Pray over your love life by praying for your romantic partner right now.

Praying over your love life is not just about praying about yourself and your needs, but it involves intercessing on the behalf of all parties involved. Take the time to pray for your love, your romantic partner. 

Cover them in prayer around their purpose, their family, their relationship with God, etc. Pray over your love life that you will partner with the Holy Spirit to bind anything that may concern or create a struggle for your lover.

Pray over your love life by praying over the one who is making it worth while.

Father,

I thank you for the lover and friend you have placed in my life. I pray his relationship with you is blossoming and thriving. I pray You know him by name and that he seeks You when it comes to his purpose, his vision for life, and when it comes to me.

Lord, whatever may be standing in his way of becoming You all that you have created him to be, I ask that you remove right now God. Protect and equip your son to be able to deflect the fiery darts of the enemy and be able to walking in the boldness and confidence that you called to walk in. Help him, Holy Spirit, become the man that the Kingdom needs because I know in that he will be the man that I need to lead our future family.

Pray over your love life by praying for it’s future.

As a Christian single mom and single woman of faith, the end goal should always be to experience the fullness of our life as Chrisitans, daughters of the Most High, and heirs to all the goodness and godly riches that come with accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord Savior. 

A part of the package deal is being able to experience godly marriage which is included in the preferred will of God. This means that not everyone will experience it, but God would love for everyone to be married in the way He intended long ago.

Take time to pray over your love life that God will bless you to fulfill the first command of partnership. Learning to ‘be fruitful and multiply’ daily with a godly husband, provided by God, on your team.

Sweet Father,

I thank you for thinking enough of me and the man you’ve placed in my life to give us a future. I thank you for putting us together to be able to fulfill your first command as a team. Lord, order our steps and provide wisdom and understanding that will help us to make it through any challenges that may come our way.

Stay at the center of my love life and current relationship so that we can honor you with marriage and a life that gives you honor and praise. Holy Spirit, remind us of why God brought us together and remember that you have a hope and future for us that is not to harm us but to prosper us. We receive it!

In conclusion,

I pray that your love life starts, continues, and flourishes because you share it with God. You place every area needed in your love life in his hand.

May God give you the desires of your heart and His plans for you prevail in the end. God desires for us to love one another and experience the fullness of love, whether with Him or with a man He placed on your path to do life with you.

I pray these prayers help you become confident and bold in coming to God, praying over your love life and never feeling like your needs and desires are a burden to Him. God delights in your cares when you come to Him wholeheartedly.

Even though in this post we are praying over your love life, make sure you are still nurturing the life you have with your true Love, God.

God is going to honor it all as long as you don’t allow the gift/promise to become more important than He who is the gift giver/promise keeper.
